Within the framework of the «Uzbekistan – 2030» strategy, measures are being implemented in large state-owned companies to introduce the principles of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) and to obtain ESG ratings. Increasing transparency and ensuring sustainable development in state-owned companies is one of the key priorities in this area.
To systematically and sustainably achieve these objectives, cooperation with international financial institutions is being expanded. With the support of the Asian Development Bank, the ESG Center of Excellence was established under «UzAssets» JSC. The Center aims to develop internal expertise in ESG areas within large state-owned companies and to implement a sustainable and systematic model for national staff training.
To practically launch the Center’s activities, on December 19, 2025, the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted the first introductory ESG training for employees of large state-owned companies.
At the opening of the training, «UzAsset»s JSC Chairman B. Abdinarazov and Deputy Director of the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship M. Adilov delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of implementing ESG principles in the operations of state-owned companies.
The training involved responsible managers and specialists in ESG, human resources management, procurement, labor protection, ecology, and corporate governance.
To enhance internal capacity in environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance, as well as to develop a pool of qualified national personnel in ESG, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed between «UzAssets» JSC and the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
