«UzAssets» JSC, with the support of the Asian Development Bank, continues to strengthen ESG competencies among specialists of major state-owned companies in Uzbekistan. In May 2026, a training course on “Greenhouse Gas Accounting under the GHG Protocol” was launched. The course is being delivered at the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in an intensive format, in line with international requirements and standards.
As part of the program, training sessions were held on May 4–5, 2026. During these sessions, specialists of state-owned companies were introduced to international approaches to greenhouse gas inventory, studied methodologies for Scope 1,
Scope 2, and extended Scope 3 emissions, and initiated work on practical case studies and methodologies for greenhouse gas reporting.
A key feature of the program is its practice-oriented approach: the training is not limited to classroom-based instruction. To reinforce the knowledge acquired, participants conducted a field visit to a production facility of
«Thermal Power Plants» JSC, where they identified key emission sources, reviewed data collection processes, and performed initial calculations under real operating conditions. This approach facilitates the development of practical skills required for effective application within state-owned companies.
Throughout May, the training will continue in an online format: participants will complete weekly practical assignments on emissions calculations and receive expert feedback, ensuring systematic knowledge consolidation and the progressive development of competencies.
Particular emphasis is placed on the implementation of international standards, taking into account the specific operational context of state-owned companies in Uzbekistan.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be better equipped to conduct emissions calculations, enhance the quality and transparency of ESG reporting, and contribute to the sustainable transformation of state-owned companies in Uzbekistan.
