In order to implement the objectives defined by Presidential Decree No. PD–16 of January 30, 2025, “On the State Program for the Implementation of the ‘Uzbekistan–2030’ Strategy in the Year of Environmental Protection and the ‘Green Economy’,” the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Resolution No. 221 dated May 4, 2026, “On Measures for the Introduction of Sustainable Development and Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) Principles.”

The Resolution was developed with the participation of «UzAssets» JSC and is aimed at the gradual transition of large strategic enterprises of Uzbekistan to ESG reporting standards based on IFRS SDS (ISSB), as well as the development of corporate sustainability programs.

The document establishes procedures for the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards in the field of sustainability disclosure, including mandatory materiality assessments, independent external assurance of reporting, internal control requirements, and measures to improve the quality of enterprise data.

Compliance with the rules adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers creates a legal framework for providing investors and other stakeholders with reliable, relevant, and comparable information.

As part of the implementation of the Resolution’s requirements, ESG consultants of «UzAssets» JSC held a working meeting and consultations with specialists from major state-owned companies of Uzbekistan. During the discussions, participants reviewed the key provisions of the document, international approaches and best ESG practices, as well as issues related to integrating sustainable development principles into the corporate strategies and operational activities of major enterprises in Uzbekistan.
