On March 5 of this year, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, together with “UzAssets” JSC, with the participation of 22 state-owned enterprises, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asian Development Bank, as well as representatives of international auditing companies, “Sustainable development of state-owned companies according to ESG principles” seminar was organized.

Within the framework of the event, the Ministry of Economy and Finance informed the participants of the seminar about the comprehensive measures implemented by our country based on the Action Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030.

In this regard, it was emphasized that the priority task is to increase the level of openness of corporate management activities in enterprises with state participation, to introduce the practice of providing information to the public about the state of corporate social responsibility, environmental, social, and corporate management.

To implement the above tasks, the participants of the seminar were presented with the “Road map” “Sustainable development of state companies according to ESG principles” developed by the specialists of “UzAssets” JSC.

Nutan Zarapkar, an expert on ESG of the Asian Development Bank, told the participants about the initiatives of ADB and its support in the implementation of projects on the introduction of ESG in Uzbekistan and the development of green financing for state-owned enterprises.

In his speech, the representative of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development shared the experience of working with state companies on the development of climate strategy and climate-related corporate governance.

Also, based on the experience of international organizations, the main ESG criteria affecting the environment, including waste management, energy consumption, air emissions and water consumption, were discussed in detail.
